Launching a Business as a Gypsy Boss Babe
Let’s cut to the chase.
I quit my job, left my apartment, friends, and surroundings for two months, and traveled around the globe. Life was escaping me and I needed help finding myself again. I knew my beach bartending job was filling up my pockets and bank account, but my soul felt empty. Sometimes getting into a routine is lethal, and I needed courage to step outside of my comfort zone and breath in fresh air.
I flew out to San Diego first to see my aunt and cousins. You can read more about my trip here. This trip brought me so much peace I didn’t want to leave. I knew I needed to go see my brother and his family in Chicago, which you can also read about my life changing days here. I had about a week in between to gather all my stuff into two backpacks I would carry around for 5 weeks in Europe.
Europe was the destination because of my mom’s 60th birthday. It’s where she wanted to go for her first time and I wanted to experience it with her. But I decided to fly out early and be solo for almost a month. The whole time I couldn’t stop thinking about my business and how I really wanted to launch it, but God only knew I needed that time away.
I decided to stay in hostels to save money and meet new people. I shared new places and experiences for the first time with people from all over the world. It created instant bonds like no other. It was easy to keep my mind in a loop of thoughts and be happy at the same time.
My first stop was in Lisbon. Where I was literally lost. Explained more in this blog. After being in Lisbon, I flew with a friend I knew from home to Madeira Island. It’s where I really had awakened and soul-searched experiences. It was magical. Find out why I’d do it all over again here.
After Madeira I decided to go north of Lisbon and stay in a small surf and skate town called Ericeira. It felt like the European version of California. I absolutely loved it. Everyone there came to surf, hang out at the beach, cookout, and drink a few cocktails early and wake up and do it all over again. It felt like home.
Then I met up with my parents and we went to Fatima. It was life-changing and I felt Mary in my presence. She reminded me of my faith and to keep going. That she’s there when I need her. Which is every single day.
We decided to fly to Rome next and travel down to the Amalfi Coast. I’ll get back to writing about the middle to end of my trips later, but my heart was telling me to keep going and launch Herbal Gypsy.
I was excited to be back home and thankful for all that I had and created. I wanted to keep going with my business and finally launch. I was living the Herbal Gypsy life, striving to be better, meet new people in different places, and use what God gave us (so many plants) to help continue to heal me mentally and emotionally. To create a tribe. A family and community of people who we can support, travel, make memories, learn, grow, and feel our best. All together.
I am starting off with a basic skincare line and one tincture that I feel is essential for my life at the moment. As a lot of you know, I tried to build this business and community a long time ago, but this time it’s different. I am starting over and creating something new. I moved to St. Pete 6 years ago specifically to attend Herbalism School. And I did just that.
I made it through two years of inspiring lectures, books, community gatherings, laughs and cries with nature and surrounded myself with the same weirdos. We all had a similar purpose. To pursue natural healing for our earth and ourselves and surrounding communities.
Years later I finally created my products over again, but this time around with the knowledge I gained from past ancestral knowledge that I learned in school. Where I learned to create balanced formulas to help heal the skin and body both inside and out.
It’s exactly what I did. Just like traveling, it’s the ride in between, the train rides, the living, and the breathing. It’s to see the sun shine on the other side of the world and remember who you are in the first place. My daily skincare routine abroad reminded me to stay connected and grounded to who I am and what I know. This skincare was a game changer amongst the crowd of people and places of the unknown. And the tincture kept my energy, mood, and hormones balanced all while living in a completely different place (until I ran out, whoops).
So I hope you follow along my crazy journey again into sharing my knowledge, life, beauty and wellness tips and tricks and try out some of the products that hopefully make you feel even better than you may now. I will forever be grateful for the support and feedback of what your needs are and how I can help the world next. Thank you for making it this far with me, and if this is all new to you, I am excited for you to join my crazy ride. I wouldn’t be here without you.
Much Love and God’s blessings always,
XOXO Kelly
